University Assistant (Prae-Doc)

30 weekly hours, limited to 3 years

The Institute for Water Quality and Resource Management, Research Unit of Water Quality Management offers a position for a University Assistant, expected from 01.09.2019 (30 weekly hours, limited to 31.08.2022), for the duration of 3 years.


  • Participation in a research project on the use of fluorescence spectroscopy in the field of water quality management
  • Field experiments and laboratory analyses
  • Statistical modelling of experimental results
  • Writing of a doctoral thesis and publication of scientific articles
  • Ability and availability to participate to teaching activities

Your profile:

  • Master degree in a technical or scientific field of study (e.g. Physics, Technical Mathematics, Environmental Engineering)
  • Knowledge of optical measuring techniques (ideally fluorescence spectroscopy)
  • Good programming skills (R is beneficial)
  • Very good statistical knowledge
  • Excellent command of English
  • Interest in the research field of water quality management (basic knowledge is desirable)
  • Teamwork and problem-solving skills, ability to innovate

The remuneration corresponds to the minimum wage of the salary group B1 and for an employment position of 30 hours it amounts to 2.148,38 € gross/month (14 times per year). Depending upon availability, we intend to increase the position to 40 weekly hours.
