University Assistant (Post-Doc)

40 hours/week, for 6 years

The Institute of Solid State Electronics, at TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (Post-doc) for 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: 03.02.2020.


  • The candidate is expected to build up an independent scientific group with strong international visibility in the field of experimental silicon and germanium nanoelectronic devices for Beyond-CMOS applications.
  • Independent acquisition of the necessary funding projects as well as the active involvement in teaching and research activities of the institute
  • The candidate is encouraged to further develop her_his academic career by performing an habilitation in Electrical Engineering

Your profile:

  • We are searching for a highly talented candidate holding a successfully completed doctoral study or PhD certificate in Electrical Engineering or Physics. At least three years of experimental hands-on experience in a clean-room and /or in semiconductor technology
  • Detailed and documented knowledge in some of the following disciplines are particularly favored: fabrication of semiconductor electronic devices, top-down microfabrication technologies, bottom-up processing technologies, detailed electrical characterization of semiconducting structures, physical characterization of solid-state structures and /or circuit prototyping based on novel nanoelectronic logic and memory devices
  • Documented international visibility of own research results through publications in highly ranked journals of the field, invited talks, prices, etc.
  • Academic tutoring experience and direct  supervision of Master and Bachelor Thesis
  • Ability to teach in German and English language in the fields of semiconductor devices and technology of semiconductor devices
  • Excellent command of the English language, experience in international research cooperations, very good organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working

Entry level salary as a postdoctoral researcher is covered by level B1 of the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff, and receives a minimum of currently EUR 3.803,90/month gross, 14 times/year. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
